Sync follows one rule: your account holds the real copy, and what is on the device is a copy of it kept for speed and for when you are offline.

Sign in on a second machine and your plans, dives, chats and courses are there. Your theme is not: it stays with the device, as Preferences sets out.
Offline
DiveLogic is built to be used where there is no signal. Lose the connection and a bar appears along the bottom of the app naming what is paused; the rest of the app carries on. It checks for itself and tells you when the connection is back, so there is nothing to retry by hand.
What still works
- The whole planner. Levels, gases, decompression, bailout, rebreather settings, ICD checks, air breaks. Every number is computed on the device, so a plan built at 3 000 m over the Atlantic is the same plan you would get at the dive centre.
- The gas blender, and every mix, MOD, END and ppO₂ figure.
- Your dive logs: the list of dives and any recording you have already downloaded.
- Downloading dives from your computer over Bluetooth. The dive is kept on the device and sent to your account when the connection returns.
- Staying signed in. A missing connection does not sign you out; only your account actually rejecting the session does.
What is paused
- The assistant. It runs on DiveLogic’s servers, so it is unavailable offline. The Assistant tab dims and says so when you open it, and existing chats cannot be opened - the conversations are kept under your account, not on the device.
- Sharing and invitations. Inviting a diver searches for their account, which needs a connection. Creating a plan offline skips the invite step and makes a solo plan; share it from the planner’s Share button once you are back on line.
- Courses, notifications and subscription, all of which are read from your account.

Dive plans are not on this list. Creating, opening, editing and deleting them all work offline, and reach your account on their own afterwards.
What is sent, and when
A freshly downloaded dive goes to your account first: its line in the list, then the recording. Only then is it marked on the device as sent. If any part of that fails, the dive is still kept on the device, marked as not yet sent, and the failure is shown. Anything not yet sent is retried when the app starts, when the connection returns, after a failure, and when you ask for it. Dives go up a few at a time, so a retry interrupted halfway carries on from where it stopped. While you are offline these retries stop reporting themselves - the bar along the bottom is the one explanation, rather than a line per dive you cannot act on.
A plan goes to your account as you edit it, once when it is created and again on every change. When that fails, the plan on screen is left exactly as it is, and the next change tries again.
A plan you build with no connection is kept on the device as you build it, and goes to your account by itself when the connection returns - you do not have to reopen it, change anything, or keep the app running in the meantime. Deleting a plan offline works the same way round: it goes immediately, and the copy under your account is removed when you are next on line.
When something is missing
- A plan lives on the device and under your account. Both copies are kept in step: the device is written as you plan, and your account is updated as soon as there is a connection. If the two ever disagree - the same plan edited on two machines, one of them offline - the copy that has not reached your account yet is the one kept, because it is the one holding work the account has never seen.
- A different account signing in on the same machine clears the dives held there, so one diver’s dives never blend with another’s. Signing out does not clear them, because that would discard dives still waiting to go up.
- A plan that will not open is usually a permission problem, not a missing plan. Asking for a plan you are not a member of is answered as “not found” rather than “you may not”. A student’s course dives missing for their instructor usually means the enrolment has not been accepted.
